Salary:  £34,398 - £36,965 per annum plus excellent benefits

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Contract:   Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week (minimum two day in the office)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transactions Team Leader to join our Finance team. In this role, you will ensure accurate and timely accounting in all Group companies of all income and expenditure transactions.

Main job responsibilities:

  • Ensure that transactions are delivered to a high standard of excellence and in adherence to whg’s Standing Orders and Financial Regulations whilst maintaining the security and integrity of financial data.
  • Ensure that all purchase invoices and sundry payments are processed in accurately and timely in accordance with the whg’s delegated authorities. 
  • Support the Transactions Manager to develop efficient procedures, maximizing the benefits of the finance systems, which are fully documented to ensure a consistent approach and continuity of service. 
  • Ensure that payments to suppliers and customers are timely and undertake regular analysis to enable compliance reporting with payment and procurement legislation.
  • Ensure that all relevant accounting transactions and back-up information is accessible and secure and that access to any sensitive, confidential information is secure in line with general data protection regulations. 
  • To manage and lead a small high performing team through training and continuous professional development using whg’s Performance Management Framework.
  • To use fraud detection techniques to identify potentially fraudulent activity including red flags such as unusual payments requests. 

 

We're looking for someone who has:

  • An appropriate accounting qualification (e.g. AAT) or significant relevant experience.  
  • Significant experience in a ledger processing environment.
  • Significant experience of developing and maintaining effective administration systems including the reconciliation of accounts whilst maintaining data integrity, security and control systems.
  • Excellent IT skills, which include the ability to confidently use all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to use IT as an analytical and management tool for interpreting and analysing data performance information that translates into recommendations for improvement.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other teams, building rapport and trust through negotiation and discussion.
  • A strong awareness of relevant fraud risks and appropriate ways to mitigate these.
