Salary: £45,111 - £47,198 (plus £1000 ECU) per annum plus excellent benefits

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Contract:   Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week

Are you an experienced Surveyor with knowledge of disrepair and damp and mould surveying? Are you looking to take the next step in your career, ready to lead a team of Surveyors to deliver a quality surveying service

If so, this could be the role for you! 

We’re looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to manage the day-to-day operational delivery of half of our Surveying Team. You’ll work alongside another Senior Building Surveyor to lead, develop and drive the performance of the Surveying Team – ensuring the team always achieve regulatory compliance and excellent customer service, as well as delivering value for money

You’ll need to thrive working in a busy, fast-paced environment and be confident with prioritizing and making decisions

You’ll report into the Surveying Manager and support the Surveying Manager to develop the Surveying service to make it as efficient as possible – including working with data to identify trends and develop new ways of working

It goes without saying you’ll have a keen interest in all things, building surveying and keep an eye on any upcoming changes in legislation and best practice. You’ll work with the Surveying Manager to ensure any new regulatory requirements are communicated to the business and implemented within the team.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A HNC in Building Studies, or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • The ability to/ experience of leading a team in building surveying. 
  • Experience of effectively managing contracts. 
  • Experience of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005 and carrying out Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of working with and managing Asbestos in buildings, including an understanding and awareness of the implications and risks associated with Asbestos.
  • Experience in the identification of different types of dampness and the ability to recommend and schedule the correct remedial work in accordance with the requirements of the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and Social Housing Regulation Act 2023.
  • Knowledge of current housing disrepair and environmental health legislation and case law.
  • Understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
  • Knowledge of Financial Regulations and Standing orders.
  • Experience of Energy Efficiency in dwellings.
  • The ability to accurately identify houses that are in disrepair and prepare detailed schedules of repair under the National Housing Federation Schedules of Rates or similar to remedy the disrepair. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence at all levels. 
  • The ability to analyse data and produce and present reports.
  • Excellent IT Skills, in particular the ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and a handheld tablet.
