Salary: £26,959 – £28,563 per annum plus excellent benefits

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Contract: Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week

We’re looking for a Grounds Worker to help keep our communities safe, tidy, and well-maintained. If you have experience in fencing, paving, gutter cleaning and general grounds maintenance, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

 

As a Grounds Worker, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the outdoor spaces of both occupied and void properties, ensuring that our communities remain well-kept, safe, and accessible. Every day, you’ll be out and about in the community, making improvements whether it’s repairing or replacing fencing, relaying or renewing paving, or clearing and repairing gutters, no two days are the same! You’ll tackle different challenges and see the real impact of your efforts.

Main job responsibilities:

 

  • Fencing – Installing, repairing, and maintaining fences to keep properties safe and secure.
  • Paving & Slabbing – Laying and repairing slabs and paving to improve outdoor areas.
  • Gutter Cleaning & Repairs – Using Sky (Gutter) Vacuuming equipment to clean and maintain gutters.
  • Groundwork & Maintenance – Including tarmac repairs, drainage works, garden clearance, and landscaping.
  • Safety & Compliance – Following Health & Safety regulations, including Asbestos and COSHH requirements.
  • Customer Service – Interacting with residents in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring they feel respected and informed.
  • Using Technology – Managing tasks efficiently using handheld devices (PDA, Tablet, etc.).

 

 

We're looking for someone who has:

 

  • A full driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
  • The ability to travel efficiently from location to location around whg housing stock
  • Demonstrable experience of labouring/ ground works.
  • Experience of fencing & slabbing. 
  • Experience of working in a customer facing service.
  • The ability to work to tight timescales in order to meet the demands of customers and the business.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • The ability to listen and interpret information effectively, and able to obtain information from customers and take appropriate action and deal sensitively with complaints and customer dissatisfaction.
